The Brits are infamous for preferring their steak bloody, almost raw. This, however, is a piece of English meat that is rather well done. You could almost say this record is really nice and dry. "Dry" is also the term fit to describe the sound of these four young men from London. There’s nothing bloated, artificial or glammed up about their music. The sound of "Slab City" reverberates with the stale smell of band dressing rooms, beer, sweat, and honest labor. Dry, groovy stoner rock, inspired by legends of the genre, such as Dozer, Freedom Hawk, Fu Manchu or the almighty Kyuss, coupled with a few spacey influences from the psychedelic Monster Magnet corner. Founded in 2010, the band has released two EPs so far, kicking up dust not only for their powerful songs but also for the witty, carefully designed comic artwork. In these comic strips, the four band members' alter egos fight the dark forces of the Evil Lazarus, and these somewhat hilarious stories, of course, also find their way into the lyrics. STEAK – definitely not your usual stoner band.
